Azerbaijan is Not Interested in Lasting Peace, EU Parliament Member
Belgian Member of the European Parliament Gerolf Annemans considers the aggressive and threatening statements by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev towards Armenia to be highly concerning. In an interview with Armenpress in Brussels, the MEP emphasized that Aliyev's statements clearly demonstrate the dangerous mindset of the Azerbaijani government.
According to him, these statements indicate that Azerbaijan is not interested in lasting peace. He expressed hope that there could be a fair peace agreement based on respect for Armenia's sovereignty and the cultural heritage of Armenians in Artsakh.
"We also believe that Armenia is doing everything possible to support peace. The question now rests on the shoulders of the international community and the Minsk Group to compel Azerbaijan to make genuine efforts at the negotiating table," Annemans stated.
