Trump Plans to Bomb Iranian Nuclear Facilities, WSJ
The newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump's team has proposed a plan to contain Iran that includes strikes by Israel's air force on its nuclear facilities. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.
As part of this plan, the United States is expected to provide Israel with "modern weapons" capable of destroying Iranian nuclear facilities, the publication writes.
Members of Donald Trump's transition team are considering two options for responding to Iran's potential development of nuclear weapons, according to WSJ sources. The first involves military pressure by sending "more" American troops and equipment to the Middle East, selling weapons to Israel for strikes, and tightening sanctions against Iran. The second option is a "threat of military force" combined with increased sanctions.
The newly elected President seeks to implement a plan that does not lead to the outbreak of a new war, particularly one that could involve U.S. armed forces.
According to the publication, Iran currently possesses enough enriched uranium to create four nuclear bombs within a few days.
