Blinken Arrives in Iraq on Unannounced Visit
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has arrived in Iraq on an unannounced visit as part of his Middle East tour to discuss the situation in the region with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. This was reported by AP, citing the State Department.
“Blinken will discuss regional security opportunities and challenges, as well as the United States' continued support for engaging all parties in Syria to ensure an inclusive political transition,” the State Department stated.
Additionally, during his visit, Blinken will “emphasize the United States' commitment to the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Iraq, as well as to Iraq's security, stability, and sovereignty.”
