Syria to Address UN Security Council Regarding Israeli Actions
Syria intends to notify the United Nations Security Council about Israel's violations of the Republic's sovereignty related to attacks on Damascus and the actions of Israeli military forces in the Golan Heights. In an interview with Al Arabiya TV, Syria's Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh stated that the ministry is operating under regular conditions, but the situation is complicated.
“Firstly, this is a clear violation of the 1974 separation of forces agreement, and secondly, this is a new violation of Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the minister noted, referring to the establishment of an additional security zone by Israeli forces in the Golan Heights on the Syrian side of the Hermon mountain range. “The second issue is that this relates not only to the Golan Heights but also to airstrikes. Yesterday afternoon, numerous targets in Damascus came under fire. Today I spoke with our permanent representative at the UN and requested that this issue be raised,” he said.
