Heavy Situation: What is Happening in Aleppo and What is Being Done to Assist Armenians
People in Aleppo are facing a severe economic situation. This was stated in an interview with Zarmik Poghikyan, the editor-in-chief of the "Gandzasar" weekly, by Sputnik Armenia.
According to him, although there is no shortage of food products, prices have skyrocketed. "The food stores are open, there is no shortage, goods are being brought to Aleppo. There was a shortage of bread in the first days, but now that is gone as well; however, prices have doubled or tripled, which is why there is an economic crisis," said Poghikyan.
He noted that the city is calm, but people have not returned to their normal work, meaning they are not earning money to make purchases.
Poghikyan mentioned that the Armenian community has been providing assistance to all its members for the past three days. This assistance consists of financial support that community members can use to meet their needs.
It should be recalled that the terrorist organization "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" has launched a large-scale offensive towards the cities of Aleppo and Hama from the north of Idlib, in conjunction with the armed formations of the Syrian opposition. The radicals have almost completely taken control of the city of Aleppo.
