Extraordinary Council Elections to be Held in Gyumri
Extraordinary council elections will take place in Gyumri. This information was reported by Knarik Harutyunyan, the head of the Civil Contract group in the Gyumri council.
As previously mentioned, on October 28, Gyumri Mayor Vardges Samsonyan and 14 members of the Balasanyan Alliance group resigned. Consequently, the Civil Contract group has gained a majority in the council.
Harutyunyan emphasized that they do not intend to nominate a candidate for mayor or vote in favor of candidates proposed by other groups at the upcoming council meeting. "Since no one can elect a community mayor without the votes of the 'Civil Contract' council members, extraordinary elections will be held in Gyumri. The one to decide in Gyumri is the Gyumri resident; the one to form the community authority is the Gyumri resident, and it is the Gyumri resident who should decide who will be the next community mayor of Gyumri," wrote the head of the Civil Contract group.
