Australian Ambassador in the U.S. Deletes Negative Comments About Trump from His Pages
The Australian Ambassador to the U.S., Kevin Rudd, who has previously expressed negative views about former President Donald Trump on social media, has deleted his critical comments following Trump's announcement of victory in the presidential elections.
“Out of respect for the office of the President of the United States and following President Trump’s election, Ambassador Rudd has removed these old comments from his personal website and social media channels,” Rudd's website states.
It is noted that Rudd had previously “actively commented on American politics” before assuming his role as ambassador, and his statements were removed from social media to prevent anyone from interpreting them as Australia’s official stance towards Trump.
In turn, the Sydney Morning Herald reminds that Rudd has previously referred to Trump as the “traitor of the West” and “the most destructive president in the history of the United States.”
