Turkey's Foreign Ministry Accuses EU
Turkey's Foreign Ministry has responded to the European Union's report concerning Turkey for 2024, which was published on October 31. This was reported by ermenihaber.am.
In the statement, it was noted, “We reject the unfounded assessments of the EU regarding Turkey in the 2024 report, particularly on political criteria and domestic developments.”
The Turkish side also accused the EU of bringing up political issues in bilateral relations and emphasized that it is expected the EU will remove these political obstacles.
It should be recalled that the European Commission published the 'Enlargement Report' on October 30 regarding 10 countries, including Turkey. The report underscored that there has been no progress in negotiations for Turkey's EU membership since 2018.
Concerns related to Turkey's regression in the context of the EU's democratic standards, the rule of law, the independence of the judicial system, and other fundamental rights remain.
