Kremlin Condemns Western Statements on Elections in Georgia
“What we see are completely mentor-like statements coming from the United States and the European Union, where literally ultimatums are being presented to the leadership of Georgia. These are, of course, absolutely disgusting manifestations that contradict the norms of international relations and must be stopped,” said Peskov during a press briefing.
The press secretary of the President of Russia noted that Moscow has never intended to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries but is concerned about the official “ultimatum statements” directed at the Georgian leadership from the EU and the USA.
It is worth noting that the day before, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell had called on Georgia’s political forces to engage in dialogue after the parliamentary elections. He also stated that it is necessary to clarify and rectify the alleged violations to restore trust in the electoral process.
US Secretary of State Blinken also expressed intentions to thoroughly investigate the alleged reports of electoral violations in Georgia.
