Attacks and Pressures on Georgia's Central Election Commission Increase
The Central Election Commission of Georgia has appealed to the Prosecutor's Office, requesting an investigation into allegations of electoral fraud presented by the President, political figures, and others. The Commission explains that verifying the authenticity of these declarations requires a comprehensive and objective investigation, which is beyond its powers.
“Following the announcement of the results of the 2024 parliamentary elections, unwarranted attacks on the CEC have intensified, despite positive assessments from the OSCE and an American auditing firm. In this regard, the Central Election Commission of Georgia has turned to the Prosecutor's Office with a proposal to initiate an investigation and announces its willingness to cooperate and provide all necessary data,” the statement reads.
