VIDEO: We must solve the following problem, that more people in Armenia become wealthy, not just 'getting by' - Pashinyan
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan considers the issue of public administration to be that more and more people should have a real opportunity to become wealthy through legal and competitive work. Pashinyan expressed this position during the preliminary discussions of the 2025 state budget draft at a meeting of the permanent committees of the National Assembly.
“Our task is that the legislation of Armenia, including tax and other legislations, has not been formed from the very beginning on the basis of ‘real Armenia’. And I am not confident that our laws, procedures, and policies provide the best opportunities for greater formation. One of the key tasks for the government, the National Assembly, state and local self-government bodies, laws, and regulations should be to create opportunities for more and more citizens of Armenia to become wealthy through legal work and/or activities,” Pashinyan stated.
According to him, public bodies have not only neglected this issue since their founding day, but such a problem has not even been a part of their “genetics.”
“We must solve the following problem - to create the opportunity for more people working and engaging in activities in Armenia to become wealthy, not just ‘getting by’. Meanwhile, our task should be that more and more people have a real opportunity to become wealthy through legal and competitive work. We need to align our entire legislation, procedures, external, and internal policies with these needs, with the needs of ‘real Armenia’,” Pashinyan added.
He emphasized that this is a very complex task and that work on this should begin today.
