UN Comments on Reports of Zelensky's Rejection of Guterres' Visit to Kyiv
The United Nations cannot confirm reports that Kyiv has rejected Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' visit to Ukraine following his participation in the BRICS summit in Russia. This was stated by UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, as reported by TASS.
Earlier, it was reported that President Zelensky had declined Guterres' visit to Kyiv due to his attendance at the BRICS summit in Kazan, according to a high-ranking source in the Ukrainian president's office cited by AFP.
During a speech directed at Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday in Kazan, Guterres called for the establishment of a 'just peace' in Ukraine to end the war, yet his participation in the BRICS summit has provoked anger in Kyiv.
