UN Fails to Address Its Assigned Challenges: Statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry
The spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, expressed regret that the UN is failing to address the challenges it faces and is becoming an ineffective platform against Israel's war in Gaza. This was reported by Mehr News Agency.
In his microblog on social media platform X, Baghaei noted that October 24 is United Nations Day and posed a rhetorical question: 'Where is the UN today?'
'Established on October 24, 1945, to save future generations from war and atrocities and to promote the rule of law and justice, the United Nations has unfortunately become an ineffective platform, unable to take any effective collective action to halt Israel’s genocidal frenzy in Gaza and its aggressive war in Lebanon and beyond. Unfortunately, the UN is failing to address its assigned challenges, as the unwavering support of the United States for the occupying regime has emboldened it to expand its aggression and atrocities throughout the region, killing 230 UN employees, declaring the UN Secretary-General a persona non grata, tearing apart the UN Charter, and ignoring the International Court of Justice's ruling to stop the horrific genocide in Gaza,' he wrote.
