Construction of Railway Line to Nakhchivan Discussed
Azerbaijan and Iran have discussed the construction of a railway line through Iranian territory to Nakhchivan. This was reported by Rovshan Rustamov, the president of Azerbaijan Railways, on social media platform X.
Rustamov addressed this matter with his Iranian counterpart, Jabbar Ali Zakeri, during his visit to Tehran. He stated, "The topic of our discussions was the construction of a railway line that will provide a direct land connection between the 'Eastern Zangezur Economic Zone' (referring to the occupied territories of the Republic of Artsakh) and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Additionally, we discussed the strengthening of cooperation along the North-South Corridor and talked about the steps taken by Azerbaijan Railways towards the development of two routes, as well as our future plans."
