Photograph: Man Sets Homes on Fire and Crashes Truck into Stores in Germany, Dozens Injured

In Essen, Germany, a migrant armed with a machete has injured more than 31 people. A Syrian citizen, angry over his separation from his wife, set homes ablaze and drove a truck into several stores, local police reported.

The local prosecutor's office is seeking to detain the man on charges of large-scale arson and attempted murder. The two fires have resulted in injuries to 31 individuals, including children.

The man ran through the city with a machete until he was apprehended by police in the parking lot of one of the stores. The suspect was caught not far from the scene.
