Legendary Italian Totò Passes Away
Salvatore Schillaci, the legendary Italian footballer, has passed away at the age of 59. He was the top scorer in the knockout stage of the 1990 World Cup. This was reported by Armenpress, citing the Corriere Della Sera newspaper.
Schillaci was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2022. Earlier this September, he was hospitalized due to atrial arrhythmia.
Inter Milan has paid tribute to the legendary player. Fans displayed a massive banner that read: "In 1990, he made an entire nation dream during Italy's magical nights."
Invited by Armenian-Russian Armen Barkhudaryan, founder of the International Amateur Football Association, Salvatore Schillaci participated in a charity match in Stepanakert in 2012, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the liberation of Shushi. The famous footballer also attended the military parade dedicated to that anniversary.
