Post-44-Day War: We Have a Large Quantity of Missing Weapons, Says Prime Minister
Post the 44-day war, we have a significant quantity of missing weapons, and we have discussed this topic several times, including in the Security Council. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the Cabinet meeting on September 12, noting that he has given instructions to the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding this matter.
“We need to revise our methodology related to the search for weapons and illegal arms and ammunition, because the methodology we have been using no longer corresponds to new challenges. As far as I understand, with the application of these new methods, we already have certain, albeit small, results, and with these methods, we are able to detect illegal arms and ammunition,” said Pashinyan.
He also pointed out that the number of legal weapons in the country has increased, and we have discussed this before; in fact, it is a matter of choice. I do not believe this is a simple, unequivocal question regarding how tolerable legal weapons should be for us, and there are several conceptual approaches to this issue that we need to discuss as well,” he added.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to examine the question of how many percent of particularly severe crimes have been committed with legally obtained weapons versus illegally obtained ones, as this will also provide an opportunity for conclusions.
