Russia Moves Mercenaries from Africa for Kursk Defense: Le Monde

Russian soldiers stationed in Burkina Faso are set to be deployed to the Kursk region to deter attacks from the Ukrainian armed forces, according to Le Monde.

The report mentions that fighters from a brigade that arrived in the capital Ouagadougou in May, numbering around 100, have been providing security for several key figures, including, likely, the junta leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. They are now leaving Burkina Faso.

"The official reason for their departure, just three months after their arrival, is participation in Russian defense efforts against the Ukrainian army's offensive that began on August 6 in the Kursk region," the publication states.

It is noted that these brigades deny any connection with the Russian Ministry of Defense. However, according to the newspaper, there are indications of interactions with certain leaders in the Russian defense agency.
