Pavel Durov to Be Under Judicial Supervision and Pay Bail of 5 Million Euros, Paris Prosecutor's Office
The Paris court has ruled that Pavel Durov, co-founder of Telegram, will be placed under judicial supervision. He is prohibited from leaving the territory of France. Durov is also required to pay bail amounting to 5 million euros. This information was reported by the Paris Prosecutor's Office.
Earlier, the French Foreign Ministry addressed the issue of granting citizenship to Pavel Durov. According to publications, while discussing the request from the founder of Telegram, the responsible service of the ministry concluded that conditions were not met for issuing a passport to the "distinguished citizen." It was noted that he confirmed his knowledge of French, but he also needed to demonstrate that he contributes to enhancing "France's influence." The publication mentions that Durov and Macron have met several times. However, Macron's circle told the newspaper that there had been only "one or two" meetings. The French Foreign Ministry did not respond to Le Monde's inquiry regarding Durov's citizenship application.
