Fire Hazard Period in Republic from June 1 to September 30: Ministry of Emergency Situations Warns
From June 1 to September 30, the territory of the Republic is considered a fire hazard period. This was reported by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing the importance of paying special attention to fire prevention and educational work among the population during this time.
To avoid fires in forest and grass-covered areas, the following actions are prohibited: 1) lighting bonfires in unauthorized places, 2) throwing burning matches or unsnuffed cigarette remnants, 3) smoking and using open flames around fuel-filled vehicles, 4) burning dry grass or weeds, 5) leaving bottles or glass pieces in sunlit clearings, as these can focus rays and become igniting lenses.
Dear citizens, in the event of discovering a small fire, try to extinguish it using fire extinguishers, shovels, or tree branches, wet clothing, or sturdy fabric. It is essential to ensure that the fire is completely extinguished and there is no threat of re-ignition.
By adhering to fire safety regulations, you will assist firefighters by understanding that, despite their dedicated 24-hour service, it is impossible to keep the forest entirely and permanently under surveillance. As a reminder, the law on administrative offenses of the Republic of Armenia stipulates that damage to or destruction of trees, shrubs, or cultivated plants in forests due to arson or careless handling of fire can result in a fine of up to one hundredfold of the minimum wage (150,000 AMD). Burning weeds, plant residues, and dried vegetated areas, as well as vegetation in pastures and hayfields, in agricultural, forest-adjacent, forested, and specially protected nature lands can result in fines ranging from fiftyfold of the minimum wage (50,000 AMD) to three hundredfold (300,000 AMD).
Dear citizens, if you notice a fire, please call 911 immediately.
