Caspian Sea on the Brink of Disappearance, Warns Tokayev
The Caspian Sea is on the brink of disappearance, declared Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during his speech at the informal summit of member states of the Turkic States Organization in the occupied Shushi.
"It is unacceptable to ignore environmental issues. The Caspian Sea is on the brink of disappearance. The most important issue is the preservation of the environment, flora, and fauna. Specific solutions must be developed to save the Caspian Sea," he stated.
Tokayev also expressed concern regarding the desiccation of the Aral Sea and the desertification of its surrounding area. "It is necessary to restore the environment in areas affected by ecological disasters. For this, water management technologies should be utilized more broadly," he added. He noted that the climate situation on the planet is generally becoming more complicated.
