Avanesyan Reports on the Condition of Those Injured in Clashes
Eight individuals who sustained injuries in clashes near the National Assembly on June 12 are currently hospitalized. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.
"The condition of the operated patient is assessed as satisfactory, and I believe that others will be discharged within the next 1-2 days," the minister said, noting that she has not yet visited the injured but intends to do so.
In response to reporters' questions regarding her assessment of the police's actions, considering the number of injured individuals, including reporters with injuries, Avanesyan stated that the police acted proportionately. "I believe the police acted lawfully, proportionately, and fulfilled their duty to maintain public order in Armenia. Yes, when demonstrators do not maintain public order, are not law-abiding, then yes, the police is a force that exercises power," Avanesyan said.
