Thieves Rob Bulgari Boutique in Rome and Hide in Sewers
Thieves targeted the Bulgari boutique in central Rome, making off with valuables worth 500,000 euros. The robbers reportedly hid in the sewers, as reported by the capital's Messaggero newspaper.
The attack occurred on Sunday night and lasted just 11 minutes. The criminals entered the store via a tunnel they had broken into from below ground. The initial estimate of damage, half a million euros, is likely to increase, the newspaper notes.
No comments have been received from the brand regarding the incident. The police are searching for members of the gang, which consisted of at least three individuals. They are reviewing footage from external security cameras, considering that the boutique is located on via dei Condotti, along with other luxury stores.
As Messaggero reports, the police managed to scare off the robbers, who fled through the vast network of sewer tunnels. It is also believed that the gang used GPS to navigate within the store. Such a sensor may have been installed in the boutique a few days prior to the robbery.
