Lawsuit Filed Against Vladimir Solovyov and Margarita Simonyan at The Hague Court

Human rights defenders have filed a lawsuit at The Hague court against six Russian propagandists. This was reported by the BBC's Russian service. The International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) accuses television hosts Vladimir Solovyov and Dmitry Kiselev, author of 'Komsomolskaya Pravda' Sergey Mardan, RT's editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, and deputy chairman of the Security Council and blogger Dmitry Medvedev of using hate speech.

Additionally, the FIDH is requesting to investigate Alexey Gromov, the first deputy head of the Russian presidential administration, who is responsible for propaganda in Russian media.

As noted by the BBC's Russian service, hate speech has not yet been classified as a crime under the Rome Statute, which the ICC is guided by. However, human rights defenders seek to set a precedent for hate speech to be recognized as a crime against humanity.
