‘Tatiki-Papiki’ is Presented by Azerbaijan as ‘Their Cultural Heritage’
The Ombudsman for Cultural Heritage of the Armenian Highlands raises an alarm: “The Azerbaijani state apparatus continues to appropriate the cultural heritage of Artsakh. This time, the target of the Azerbaijani authorities is the monument ‘We Are Our Mountains’, which is presented on Azerbaijani websites as ‘Azerbaijani cultural heritage’.
The monument is widely known as ‘Papik-Tatik’ (Western Armenian: Mamik and Papik). It was installed in 1967 and is located at the top of a hill. The sculptor is Sargs Baghdasaryan, and the architect is Yuri Hakobyan. The sculpture is made of red tuff.”
