Azerbaijan Has No Plans to Join EAEU, Says Aliyev
Azerbaijan does not plan to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), but it maintains close partnership relations with the countries of the Union. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“We have no such plans, but we cannot say that it will not be a subject of discussion in the future,” Aliyev said at the international conference “COP29 and a Green Outlook for Azerbaijan.”
According to him, everything will depend on what additional economic benefits the country will receive. “If we see them, we will make decisions. If not, we are also satisfied with the level of cooperation that currently exists. Azerbaijan has very close partnership relations with all member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, except for Armenia,” Aliyev emphasized.
Currently, the EAEU consists of five countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
