Photos: Tense Situation in Armavir Region as Residents Block Highway
For over several hours now, more than 100 residents have blocked the Yerevan-Margar road in the administrative area of Vardanashen village in protest. This was reported by Shamshyan.com. Residents are demanding that the government, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, and the Armavir regional administration respond to the prolonged irrigation water problems the village has been facing.
In an interview with a photojournalist, the villagers stated, “Our patience has run out. We have been forced to take this extreme step. We don’t know which authority to turn to; anyone we approach just feeds us nonsense, and the issue remains unresolved. We have always made regular payments for irrigation water, and we will not unblock the road until we receive a clear answer to our issue.”
It is reported that the police are currently negotiating with the participants of the protest action to reopen the highway, but so far, there has been no outcome.
