Man Goes Missing After Trip to Kapan on Donkey; Youth Kills Him, Burns Body, and Buries in Garden

On April 18, a 44-year-old man from the village of Alvank reported to the Meghri police station about his 63-year-old father going missing. He stated that his father, Samvel Ghazaryan, went to Kapan on April 13 to make purchases on his donkey and did not return. He also mentioned that they had not contacted the police before because they had tried to locate him on their own.

As a result of operational-investigative measures taken by the Kapan police, it was revealed that Samvel Ghazaryan met a 35-year-old local resident while traveling through a forest road around 5 PM on April 13. The two of them consumed alcohol at the youth’s home. Subsequently, while inebriated, they began to argue over some matter, during which the 35-year-old struck the 63-year-old man multiple times, resulting in his death.

On April 18, the 35-year-old was located, arrested, and taken to the Kapan police station, where he confessed to the crime and stated that after killing the 63-year-old man, he buried him in his garden. The investigative group found the charred body of the 63-year-old man at the location indicated by the suspect. The youth admitted that he had burned the body before burying it.

A criminal case has been initiated under the features of murder by the Regional Investigative Department of Syunik.
