Cooperation Between Yerevan and the U.S. is Not Directed Against the EAEU, Mher Grigoryan

Cooperation between the United States and the European Union with Yerevan is not directed against the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), said Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan to RIA Novosti.

“The Republic of Armenia has announced its intention to diversify its trade and economic ties even further. Almost all countries today are pursuing such economic policies, and this is not done against any country or union... The policy of diversifying trade and economic ties is not aimed against any unions, especially the EAEU,” Grigoryan stated in response to a question about whether close cooperation with the U.S. and the EU interferes with Armenia's participation in the EAEU, and whether the country intends to exit the union.

In Brussels on Friday, a joint meeting was held regarding cooperation between Armenia and the EU and the U.S. with the participation of U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell. Before the meeting, von der Leyen promised to provide Armenia with 270 million euros in development support over the next four years.
