VIDEO: 'You Are Russians' – Protest in Tbilisi

A protest has begun in Tbilisi following the ruling 'Georgian Dream' party's reintroduction of a foreign agents bill. Around 150 people have gathered near the parliament building, holding banners reading 'You are Russians,' 'No to Russian Law,' and 'We Choose Europe, Not Russia,' as reported by Paper Kartuli.

Another protest is underway near the Tbilisi City Court, which is set to deliver a verdict on activist Lazara Grigoriadis. He faces up to 11 years in prison for allegedly assaulting police during a rally against the foreign agents law last year.

Earlier, 'Georgian Dream' stated that the text of the bill would remain the same as last year, but the term 'foreign influence agent' would be replaced with 'organization pursuing the interests of a foreign power.' In March 2023, the bill passed its first reading, but was withdrawn from parliament amid mass protests characterized by violent unrest.
