Armenia's Former Ombudsman Emphasizes the Critical Need for Withdrawal of Azerbaijani Armed Forces
Recently, a discussion was held at the American University of Armenia with the participation of Gegham Stepanyan, Ara Ghazaryan, and Siranush Sahakyan. The event was moderated by Adelaide Baghdasaryan. Arman Tatoyan, the former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, shared updates on his Facebook page.
“We addressed Azerbaijan's strategy to create chaos in Artsakh during the armed attacks in September 2023, the right of forcibly displaced individuals from Artsakh to return, and the issues concerning the release of our compatriots unlawfully detained in Azerbaijan. We used the example of the Inner Hand village in the Syunik province's Kapan community to illustrate how vital it is to remove Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenian territory and from near our communities,” Tatoyan stated.
The discussions also included participation from university students, faculty, and experts in the field. The event was organized by the Human Rights and Social Justice Master's Program, as well as the Law Master's Program at the American University of Armenia.
