Negotiations Around Gaza Resuming Today: Media
Negotiations regarding a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement governing the Gaza Strip are set to resume on Sunday in the capital Cairo, reported Al Qahera News, citing a source from Egyptian security agencies.
In recent months, there have been several rounds of negotiations over a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but they have yet to yield successful results. Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan, which could lead to a long-term sustainable ceasefire. Fourteen countries voted in favor, while the United States abstained.
The U.S. permanent representative stated during their speech that the resolution is not binding. The permanent representative of Russia to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, expressed regret that his American counterpart had not read the organization's charter and told reporters that all resolutions of the UN Security Council are obligatory for implementation.
