Ukrainian DTEK Energy Holding Reports Significant Damage to Three Power Plants

The Ukrainian DTEK Energy Holding, the largest private investor in Ukraine's energy sector, has announced significant damage to three of its thermal power plants via its Telegram channel.

It is important to note that an air alert was declared across Ukraine last night. Ukrainian media have reported explosions in the Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Cherkasy regions. Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko has confirmed a new massive attack, stating that generation facilities have come under fire.

"Three DTEK thermal power plants have been struck. The equipment has been seriously damaged. Specialists have promptly begun the liquidation of the aftermath following the attack," DTEK's statement read.

Attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure began on October 10, 2022, just two days after a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, which Russian authorities attributed to Ukrainian special services. Strikes have targeted energy, defense industry, military administration, and communication facilities throughout the country. Since then, air alerts have been declared daily in various regions of Ukraine, sometimes nationwide.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian forces are not striking residential homes and social infrastructure during their engagements with the Ukrainian armed forces.
