Return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh is Important for Russia: Russian Ambassador in Armenia
The issue of the return of Armenians to Nagorno-Karabakh is important for Russia. The presence of Russian peacekeepers in the region speaks to this, said Sergei Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with 24News.
"We have always considered, and it has been publicly stated, that it is important for Armenians to live in their historical homeland—Karabakh. This is why the Russian peacekeepers are present there. To me, this indicates that this issue is not off the table. Those Armenians from Karabakh who wish to return have the right to do so. From what I understand, this right is not denied by the Azerbaijani side," he stated.
