Iran's New Ambassador to Azerbaijan to Depart for Baku
According to Iranian IRNA agency, a knowledgeable source has reported that the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan will 'soon' open, and Iran's new ambassador to Azerbaijan will depart for Baku.
The source from Iran's Foreign Ministry indicated that positive changes have occurred in the relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan. It added that good arrangements have been made to bring greater dynamism to the relations between Tehran and Baku.
Relations between Tehran and Baku deteriorated in January 2023 following an attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, which resulted in casualties. Azerbaijan closed its diplomatic representation in Iran after Tehran labeled the attack as a 'terrorist act', while the investigation concluded that the attacker had 'personal motivations.' The attacker was later charged in court.
