Hayk Marutyan Has a New Political Party: Who Will Be Included in Its Ranks
Yesterday it was announced that former Yerevan mayor Hayk Marutyan has founded a new political party called "New Force." The inaugural meeting of the new party will take place on May 1, as reported by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper.
"Hayk Marutyan declared months ago, after being stripped of his council member mandate, that he would not withdraw from politics and was preparing to establish a new party to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. So, who will be part of Hayk Marutyan's party?" the newspaper asked.
"Zhoghovurd" reported that a significant majority of members from the council's "National Progress" faction will join Marutyan's new party, including Aram Torosyan, Hovsep Kubatyan, Grigor Yeritsyan, Kristina Vardanyan, and others.
Interestingly, despite expectations, Izabella Abgaryan will not be part of the "New Force" party. "I will definitely support my teammates, but I have never been a member of any party. At this stage, I prefer to focus on the activities of our faction in the council and the city's issues," she told us in an interview.
Moreover, Marutyan's associates did not rule out the possibility of collaborating with the "National Progress" party in some format at some point, as they participated together in the last council elections," the newspaper wrote.
