In Autumn We Need Harvest, Not Criminal Cases: Pashinyan to Papoyan
The Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, presented a draft decision during the Government meeting today, under which the state will provide financial support to grain crop producers to further develop the cultivation actively and thereby improve food security.
It is planned that for every hectare of spring grain crop cultivation, 70,000 drams will be allocated; for each hectare of corn cultivation, 85,000 drams; for every hectare of leguminous crop cultivation, 100,000 drams; and for every hectare of perennial herbaceous plant cultivation (such as alfalfa and clover), 110,000 drams.
“Despite concerns, this is not a reason for us to refrain from making this decision. If we do nothing, we will achieve nothing, not even a criminal case. What should we do to obtain a harvest, rather than criminal cases?” stated Nikol Pashinyan.
In response, Papoyan noted that a farmer submits a request to the head of the rural community, stating what he wants to sow, after which a contract is signed. “It is essential that the sowing is done with certified seeds. The purchase of seeds must be traceable, purchased from laboratories. Everything is calculated. For example, for sowing and cultivating beans, 200,000 drams are required per hectare, and the state plans to allocate 100,000 drams for that,” he elaborated.
“To be honest, I am currently considering it is evident that we will receive criminal cases. I hope we will also have beans and will not just receive criminal cases,” Pashinyan remarked, referencing the sale of certified seeds.
