Zakharova on Armenia's Leadership Statements Regarding CSTO
Moscow is concerned about the ultimatum and offensive rhetoric of Armenia's leadership regarding the CSTO. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing while commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements about the possibility of Armenia withdrawing from the CSTO. This information was reported by TASS.
“We have never questioned, do not question, and will not question any state’s sovereign right to determine its foreign policy course, including the degree of its participation in the work of this or that international or regional organization based on its national interests and obligations. This fully applies to the CSTO as well. At the same time, we cannot help but be concerned about the counterproductive and ultimatum, and sometimes even offensive rhetoric that is currently dominant in the expressions of Armenia's leadership on the organization and is literally being sown into Armenian society,” the diplomat noted.
