A Platform Will Be Created to Help Indian Workers Find Employment
Yerevan and Delhi will unite efforts to create mechanisms that facilitate the organization of labor migration processes in Armenia. This was stated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in response to an official inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.
This decision was made during the visit of Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan to India, where relevant agreements were reached with Indian partners. The initiative has emerged against the backdrop of a growing influx of Indian citizens wishing to find work in Armenia.
During discussions, the parties are considering signing a memorandum of understanding in the field of labor and employment. In addition, it is planned to create a specialized platform through the Unified Social Service, which will help Indian workers find jobs on one hand, while offering them vacant positions in Armenia on the other.
To effectively manage the migration process, the parties intend to develop a corresponding regulatory and legal framework. According to the data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Migration and Citizenship Service, as of December 2023, there have been 54,582 cases of Indian citizens entering Armenia. They are mainly employed in the services and construction sectors. In 2023, residency status was granted to 2,035 citizens of India in Armenia.
