US House of Representatives Approves 2024 Spending Bill Package
The US House of Representatives has approved a package of six bills funding government agencies for the fiscal year 2024, reports The Hill.
The package was adopted by the House with 339 votes in favor and 85 against, with 207 Democrats and 132 Republicans supporting it, according to the publication.
This 1050-page package provides more than $450 billion in funding for the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, Commerce, and Energy.
The report notes that the vote came just days before a deadline. The bill has been sent to the Senate, where it is expected to be voted on this week.
The publication emphasizes that a tougher battle over spending is anticipated ahead.
“The remaining six spending bills, which pertain to more complex areas such as Defense, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services, must be presented by March 22,” The Hill reminds.
As reported, US Congressional leaders released bipartisan bills last Sunday to fund certain government agencies aimed at averting shutdown threats just one week before the deadline.
