The Leader of Chad's Opposition Yaya Dillo May Be Deceased
The leader of Chad's opposition, Yaya Dillo (pictured), may be deceased, according to ChadOne. Earlier, the government army had shelled the headquarters of the opposition Socialist Party Without Borders. Casualties were reported during the clashes.
The publication notes that the information circulating within security circles has not yet been confirmed. If Dillo is indeed deceased, it could have 'serious consequences,' the report states.
It was previously reported that a group of soldiers marched towards the presidential palace in the capital N'Djamena to take control, as local publication TchadOne disclosed on the social network X. TchadOne notes that there has been a significant presence of military equipment and armed personnel on the streets of N'Djamena.
Additionally, the internet in the city is down, and the 'situation remains complex,' as stated in the publication.
During an attack on the National Security Agency building on the night of February 28, several people were killed. According to Libération, authorities blame supporters of the opposition Socialist Party Without Borders (PSF), led by opposition leader Yaya Dillo, who is a cousin of the current state leader Mahamat Idriss Déby.
The attack was reportedly triggered by the arrest of PSF member Abakar Torabi, who is accused of attempting to assassinate the President of the Supreme Court.
