I Will Naturally Speak About This and I Will Speak Publicly: The Ombudsman on the Presence of Political Prisoners
If there are political prisoners who meet international standards, I will naturally speak about this and I will speak publicly,” said Anahit Manasyan, Armenia’s Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman), during a broadcast on public television, responding to a question about whether there are political prisoners in Armenia.
“If I have not yet spoken about this, it means that the information has not been confirmed by me. However, I have talked about various existing issues related both to the cases and the institution of detention, which are undoubtedly problematic in Armenia and need to be addressed,” she added.
