Who Can Be Appointed as Minister of Economy: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'About a week ago, Vahan Kerobyan left the position of Minister of Economy; however, filling the vacant ministerial position has become a challenge for Nikol Pashinyan. According to sources close to the government, a suitable candidate has not been found. Names of MPs from the ruling faction Gevorg Papoyan and Babken Tunyan circulated in the media, but Pashinyan does not intend to transfer them from the parliament, as there are very few MPs in the legislative body who somewhat understand the law. Moreover, Tunyan does not even want to hold the ministerial position. Most likely, the new minister will be Artak Kamalyan, a member of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Collegium for Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex Issues, whose term recently expired. He was dispatched to the EEC on February 1, 2020, for a term of four years. Before that, he served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and then Deputy Minister of Economy. Artak Kamalyan will be replaced in the EEC Collegium by Gohar Barseghyan, who has headed the Department of Integration Development for several years now.'
