Tiknisyan Refuses Transfer to Turkish Club
Naïr Tiknisyan, defender of the Armenian national team and Moscow's Lokomotiv, has turned down a move to Turkish club Galatasaray during the winter transfer window, according to Metaratings.ru.
The 24-year-old footballer rejected the offer due to the tense relations between Armenia and Turkey. Although the matter did not reach official negotiations, Galatasaray expressed a strong desire to acquire the Armenian player.
It is also worth noting that Tiknisyan was close to joining St. Petersburg's Zenit during the winter, but the deal fell through at the last moment.
The Armenian national team player has played 82 matches for Lokomotiv, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists.
