Azerbaijan Spreads Another Falsehood, This Time About Saghmosavank and Noravank: Tatoyan
Former Human Rights Defender of Armenia Arman Tatoyan has made a statement that we present below.
“Continuing the fabrications, Saghmosavank and Noravank have appeared in Azerbaijan's governmental plan for the appropriation of Armenia. According to these falsehoods, Saghmosavank is stated to be Azerbaijani cultural heritage and is located in the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' Turkic village of Saghmosavank, while the monastic complex is claimed to be Albanian. Allegedly, Armenians were first brought here between 1828-1830. According to this falsified thesis, Noravank is an Albanian structure and belongs to Azerbaijan. Supposedly, only Azerbaijanis lived in this village until 1988.
The Azerbaijani side continues this bundle of fabrications at the highest level, sparing no resources. We must not allow the spread of these falsehoods, especially as the Azerbaijani government is evidently preparing for new crimes against Armenia. The authorities of Azerbaijan have no real intentions for peace, and under no circumstances should we allow them to dictate their false agenda,” wrote Tatoyan.
