Alen Simonyan's Daughter-in-Law and Lilith Mkryan's Detention Conditions Altered
The prosecutor has, on February 12, 2024, voluntarily changed the detention conditions for defendants A.G. and L.M., who are involved in a criminal case being investigated by the Investigative Committee.
Considering that the aforementioned defendants have provided testimony on circumstances crucial to the criminal proceedings and have participated in confrontations, the likelihood of A.G. and L.M. engaging in wrongful conduct or unlawfully interfering with the evidence process has significantly decreased at this stage of the proceedings. The prosecutor has instructed the conducting authority to apply alternative detention measures for A.G. and L.M., which include bail, a prohibition on leaving the country, and a guarantee.
It should be recalled that on January 31, 2024, the prosecutor initiated public criminal prosecution against officials from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia under Article 441, Part 2, Point 4 of the Criminal Code (abuse of official powers or authority). Simultaneously, prosecution was initiated against the leadership and employees of the commercial organization for complicity in the same crime (under Article 46-441, Part 2, Point 4 of the Criminal Code). There has been no change in the detention conditions applied to the head of the commercial organization.
