Moscow's Interests Depend on Peace and Stability in the Region, Says Kopirkin
The South Caucasus is a region of vital importance for Russia, and it is in Moscow's interests for peace and stability to prevail there, stated Sergey Kopirkin, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia, in an interview with Sputnik.
He highlighted that unfriendly external forces are attempting to work against Russia's interests in the South Caucasus. "In my opinion, they view dramatic events in the South Caucasus as an opportunity to act against Russia. Unfortunately, that is the case, and it has an impact; it is a factor that we must take into account, and it is concerning. But I hope that what unites us will be stronger than the attempts to introduce disagreements into our relations and undermine Russia's positions and role in the South Caucasus," said Sergey Kopirkin.
The diplomat indicated that any attempts to create confusion or use the region for someone's geopolitical purposes would meet with a strong response from the Russian Federation.
