Ministry of Defense Comments on Reports Regarding Draftee's Death
The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has addressed reports circulating in the media regarding the alleged death of a draftee about to commence mandatory military service due to cardiac arrest.
According to the Ministry, there has been no recorded death of a citizen subject to conscription at the military commissariat.
“In connection with the information circulating in the media emphasizing unfounded causal links regarding the death of citizen E.H., who is not conscripted into the Armenian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense informs that according to the documents available at the military commissariat, the draftee was directed for inpatient examination during the declared call-up for mandatory military service and has been undergoing medical evaluation by relevant commissions,” the statement said.
No fitness decision has been made regarding the citizen; he has been referred by the central medical commission for additional examinations to clarify the diagnosis and to reach an accurate conclusion during the medical evaluation process.
