Tuition Fees for Artsakh Students Studying in Armenia Will Be Reimbursed
The Armenian government will reimburse the tuition fees for Artsakh students who were enrolled in Armenian higher educational institutions and continue to be so until September 19. This announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.
“We had two groups of students, whose tuition fees were either covered by their parents or by the Artsakh authorities, whose funding was halted for known reasons. In the case of these students, we do not have an issue regarding the right to education, but we did have a specific issue regarding financial assistance,” emphasized the minister.
She noted that this pertains to approximately 935 students, of which 860 are studying in higher education, and 75 in the vocational education system.
“These are students who were excluded from the previous decisions of the Armenian government, as those previous decisions related to students from Artsakh universities who had issues continuing their education,” Andreasyan said.
She informed that the Armenian government will reimburse the tuition fees for the first half of the year, amounting to about 264 million drams. This amount will be allocated to the respective educational institutions through donation agreements.
Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan, for his part, mentioned that there are students who have already made their payments and should request a refund from their universities.
