Video: Passenger Plane Catches Fire During Flight in Russia
On Friday, December 8, a Boeing 737 passenger plane was forced to land at Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk, Russia, due to an engine fire. This was reported by the SHOT Telegram channel.
According to reports, the S7 Airlines flight from Novosibirsk to Moscow encountered sparks and flames from both engines while climbing at around 6:20 local time. The crew requested an emergency landing from air traffic control, after which the aircraft safely landed.
Technical specialists are currently inspecting the plane, while passengers are waiting inside the terminal building.
The publication notes that the cause of the fire could have been related to an increase in the engine's operating mode, which may disrupt its gas-dynamic stability.
